CEO Daurice Cox, PsyD.
Each May, we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month as an opportunity to raise awareness, amplify voices, and strengthen our commitment to supporting the mental and behavioral health of our communities.
At Bay State Community Services, we see firsthand the courage it takes to ask for help and the strength it takes to work toward stability and resilience. Thanks to your continued support, we are able to offer critical services and resources that provide hope, dignity, and life-changing support to those who need it most.
This month—and every month—we stand with those impacted by mental health challenges. We are proud to be part of a community that values compassion, connection, and the power of listening. But we also know the work is far from done
With your help, we’re not just responding to needs—we’re building a culture where mental wellness is prioritized, stigma is dismantled, and everyone has access to the support they deserve.
Thank you for walking alongside us in our mission to strengthen communities.
With Gratitude,
May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Program Spotlight: Prevention
BSCS’ continuum of care begins with our longstanding commitment to primary and secondary prevention services. Our Prevention Team is dedicated to promoting health and well-being through community-driven, equity-focused initiatives. We work in partnership with the communities we serve to design upstream prevention efforts that reflect local needs and focus on changing policies, systems, and environments.
BSCS leads three community coalitions—Impact Quincy, HEY Randolph, and the Building Up Youth Regional Partnership. These coalitions bring together community members and organizations to prevent substance use
and create environments that support the health and well-being of all.
Our current areas of focus include:
- Youth Substance Use Prevention
- Youth Development & Leadership
- Prevention in Early Childhood
- Tobacco & Vaping Prevention
- Suicide Prevention
- Healthy Eating, Active Living
For more information on any of our Prevention programs, please contact Briana Keating at bkeating@baystatecs.org or visit baystatecs.org/prevention/.
Theresa's Walk for Children & Families
Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Saturday at Pond Meadow Park for the first-ever Theresa’s Walk!
Theresa’s Walk 2025 was a meaningful gathering filled with reflection, connection, and shared memories of Theresa—whose legacy of compassion and over 27 years of service at Bay State Community Services continues to inspire.
All funds raised will directly support children and families in our communities, carrying forward the mission Theresa held so close to her heart.
