Survival Shelter
A short-term emergency residential program for adolescent males and females located in South Weymouth. All referrals are made by the Department of Social Services. The length of stay for adolescents can vary from one to thirty days. During this time, Shelter staff coordinates communication between DSS, therapists, the courts, schools and families. The Shelter staff recognizes that each adolescent and family is in a unique situation and strives to meet their individual needs.
The Shelter provides twenty-four hour care for residents in placement. This includes fulfilling basic needs, coordinating an educational program, providing individual and group counseling, promoting a variety of recreational activities, and assisting teens to further their independent living skills. We encourage residents to maintain their ties with the community as well as to develop new supports.
