About Bay State Community Services
Bay State Community Services, Inc. (BSCS) is one of the most comprehensive community-based human service agencies in the state. BSCS was formed in 1991 as a result of the merger of Survival, Inc., South Shore Council on Alcoholism, Billings Human Service, and Mayflower Counseling Center. In 1993, the Center for Community Counseling and Education joined the organization. BSCS proudly affiliated with Quincy Medical Center in 1995. Accordingly, BSCS has the resources to provide exceptionally comprehensive substance abuse and mental health services.
The purpose of BSCS is to improve the social functioning of adults, adolescents and children within a framework that recognizes the primary importance of family and community. Most programs offer help based on
need, regardless of ability to pay. Major public funding is provided by the
Department of Public Health, Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health, Norfolk and Suffolk Counties Sheriffs' Offices, Community Corrections, United Way, Medicaid and Health Maintenance Organizations.
